Clearances Above Range/Cooktop

2006 IRC M1901.1. In the absence of the listing of an electric range/cooktop, what is the required clearances to combustible cabinets above an electric range? Do you think chapter 19 "Special Fuel-Burning Equipment" applies to electric ranges?

Glennman,

As I understand it, Table M1306.2 might be applied if there were some type of approved barriers

installed, but in no case less than 12 inches ( Section M1306.2.1 ), otherwise you are correct.

In my experience, I have never seen any type of barriers installed above the ranges.
