I just bought a home in a semi-rural area of central Florida. The home is of concrete block construction and was built in the mid-80s. I just have a couple questions about the home's construction; namely, are the blocks used to construct the exterior walls hollow or filled? I've only been in the home for a few days, but I already feel like the air handler isn't running as much as it did when I was in a wood-frame home, so is it reasonable to believe this home might be pretty well insulated??

Absolutely not. Look in your attic. You may or may not have any insulation between the furring strips used to hang sheetrock on the outside wall.
