Does anyone have any good information, or point me in a good direction to find information, on UV hoods and/or ductless hoods?

Thanks.

I tried a search for "uv hood" and got nothing but "hood" in the results. I tried just "uv" and got nothing. I got the link you shared when I did a search on google for uv hoods.

There's not much info out there, so I thought I'd see if anyone had any insight to share on this forum.

sorry I thought this had been discussed on the forum before
No problem, I wish it had! There's not much out there on it except for debate as to whether or not it's better than a conventional hood. All I could find in NFPA 96 was that it had to comply with Chapter 7 of 96 and UL 710 & 710C.

We have one installed here in the city. They work great however we have had many complaints about smell in other parts of the building due to the fact they are not cleaning the filter per the spec of the hood.

Just my 2 cents

Justin

I do not have any UV systems, but some hood cleaners have told that if the UV is maintained, they seem to work very well. The grease above the lights are turned into an ash product, which is easy to clean. Some drawbacks it the cost of the lights, and the lack of maintanance. If the resturant does not clean the filters, do you think they will replace the $400.00 + light bulb? I understand McD has removed the UV and gone back to the standard hood.
