I have had several people ask me about locking the doors between classrooms in addition to the main classroom doors. Is there / was there a requirement for these connecting doors to provide egress? Or only if the occupant load is large enough to require 2 exits?

Should be ok to lock unless specifically required by occupant load, CPET, E occ w/ direct access to outdoors, or some other requirement like that.......

Agree with Steve. If it is required for exiting

Might have them check with any state education agency, in case they have some regulations covering it

Case by case, would need to evaluate each room

Most of the small double portables only need the front door

Also that pesky code it might have been built under ages ago

Lori, enjoying the wire class posts. Everything is new to me, since I do not do the initial inspection. But will start looking and advising buildings on the danger.

Waiting for the post on how you tell the difference between the good wire and the bad wire

Thanks Charles! Once I get all of the posts done, I'll create a topic here so we can get everyone informed and up to speed.

No, but not every door that's required for egress has an exit sign so I didn't want to rely on that.
Lori

The reason for the question was, if there were a sign, it would have been a red flag to investigate further....
