I am trying to determine what construction type an existing building is that was labeled as Type V (UP) in 1995 compared to current construction types. Doing a quick internet search, I am finding conflicting info. Any help would be appreciated.

It would appear that Type V (U) is Type 5 (Unprotected). The question is, under what code? If NC used the BOCA codes, that would be "unprotected combustible," which is conventional, light wood framing. If under the SSBC, it would be "unprotected ordinary," which was "exterior walls are masonry or reinforced concrete
or of approved materials or assembly of materials that provide fire-resistance as required in this Section."
