i'm seeing equipment with csa but not ul listing, any info, from past experience if it's ul listed it says so on the equipment. any input ? how, if it's not written on the nameplate, or in product information, can i find out what the ul listing is on a particular piece of equipment ? thanks in advance

The only CSA standard referenced in Chapter 35 of the 2006 IBC is for windows and skylights. We generally do not accept testing in accordance with foreign standards unless an equivalent US standard is not available. A foreign lab may test to US standards which would be allowed if they are an approved testing agency.

The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) is a nonprofit association serving business, industry, government and consumers in Canada and the global marketplace. Among many other activities, CSA develops standards that enhance public safety.

A Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory, CSA is very familiar with U.S. requirements. According to OSHA regulations, the CSA-US Mark qualifies as an alternative to the UL Mark.

Here are some areas where CSA standards are applied:

•Canadian Electrical Code, Part III-Outside Wiring

•Electrical Engineering Standards

•Electromagnetic Compatibility

Example: C108.8: Limits and Methods of Measurement of Electromagnetic Emissions

Mark would be correct, there are several Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories other than UL that test and list products CSA happens to be Canadian Standards Association. Intertek is also a popular listing organization.
