Deadlatch Paddle Panic Device

Doors with electric strikes (Access Control Keypads require) apparently can't use standard rim type panic bars.... at least with the type of electric strike being provided.
I'm not familiar with the deadlatch paddles as they relate to building code & NFPA requirements.
Can these be used as direct substitutes for rim type panic bars?
Any place that they would not be appropriate and/ or not meet code?
