Deck Section of IBC

Hard to get excited about decks. A deck of any consequence requires an engineered plan. All the other decks are inconsequential..

Well Mother Nature isn't out to ruin us here on the left coast so perhaps your decks are all consequential....get an engineer every time.

There are no prescriptive design provisions for decks in the IBC. As ICE mentioned, typically commercial decks are engineered with the building. It's the small buildings (coffee shops, restaurants, old downtown boutique stores, etc) that get left out with no prescriptive design criteria. The IRC includes up to a 70 psf snow load which works for a 60 psf live load. So there are not span tables in the IRC that could be used for a 100 psf A occupancy load.
