Direct vent termination thru a side wall

Are bird screens required in the outlet of the direct vent termination to keep such from nesting in these pipes?

Per Manufacture Installation Instructions, most I have seen do.

We call for them here unless the manufacturer says explicitly NO.......I have seen some that do say no...

...The vent and combustion air terminations must include a factory supplied “bird screen” installed as shown

Sometimes the screen is at the unit. Remember that most new gas furnaces will shut off if the intake is blocked. Most vents need a screen. Some manufacturers prohibit screens. Best bet...Read the instructions.
