Can a disconnect for an air handler be mounted to the duct?

2006 IRC/2005 NEC

Looking for applicable code sections supporting or not supporting the install.

Thanks!

Try NEC 110.13 Electrical equipment shall be firmly secured to the surface on which it is mounted.

110.26 space about electrical equipment

If all requirements are met should not be a problem

jmc,

Agree with the others!.......How will the disconnect be "securely"

mounted to the duct?.......Hopefully, something more than

using screws.......Also, will using the disconnect handle [ "the

throw" ] cause damage to the duct, ...by bending / warping of

the duct?

I have seen disconnects mounted to the air handler unit.

The provision for locking or adding a lock to the disconnecting means shall

be installed on or at the switch or circuit breaker and shall remain in place with or without the lock installed.

Exception No. 2: Where an attachment plug and receptacle serve as the disconnecting means in accordance with 440.13, their location shall be accessible but shall not be required to be readily accessible.
