I typically see charging devices at the front of an accessible EV charging station.
But in a parking garage where there is no room for an accessible path at the front, is it OK to have a charging station device placed to the side of the access aisle, as shown below?

I'd say ok as long as the charging cord was of sufficient length for a vehicle that is either pulled in forward or reversed in. Not sure where or how to measure, but presume the manufacturer of the charging station may provide some criteria.

Yikes,
You might want to research the code change E121-18 for some changes proposed for the 2021 code.

If your state has adopted the 2017, A117.1 standard it may have some requirements.

Most EV vehicles charge in the front, not the side or back. that's why the EV Chargers are there.
