I have been asked to research what are the legalities of downloading music

or musical videos.

If someone has an interest to download individual songs or songs & their

associated videos, what are the legal requirements, ...or are there any

sites out there on the world wide web that are free ?

Someone I know wants to start downloading music and musical videos

to [ possibly ] start a small business doing DJ work as a side business

[ i.e. - weddings, ...parties, ...social dinners, etc. ].

Your input is appreciated ! Thanks!

Does anyone remember "Napster" and the gub' mint slapping their

hands ?

I once downloaded on Napster and other free sites. Today, I pay to play and only download through iTunes or I actually buy the CD then rip it and put it on my computer or iPhone through iTunes. If I have to ask if something is legal, it probably isn't and not worth the hassle.

Thanks Jeff for your input !

In my particular application, ...the "someone" does not wish to

purchase the individual cd's, but would rather just download the

music and \ or the music & their associated videos.

Other than the iTunes site, does anyone know of some other

quality sites for downloading the music and music & their associated

videos ?.........Hopefully, the sites you provide do not have any malware,

...viruses, etc. associated with them.

Thanks again!

Downloading others work free, to make money using their work in a public setting. Doesn't sound right to me! (says the former Napster power user. Older and wiser I guess)

I agree with your statement **Darren**........I, and my source, are not

wanting to do anything illegal, ...just asking for information and

resources at this point.

Would like to find a site, or some sites that do not have viruses, ...malware,

etc. associated with them, so that my source could download music and \ or

music & associated videos, and archive it on to a storage device, ...not to

"the cloud".

You have to play to pay

Especially if using in a commercial setting

Cannot think of the non iTunes site people use now a days

Have them check you tube for advice, just make sure it is fairly current
