Not sure where to post this, please move it if necessary.

Got a question about a potential safety item. I was in an office building yesterday, in a meeting area ... couple of large meeting rooms, kitchenette area off to one side, restrooms on the other, large “reception” or lounge area in the middle. Nicely done. Think of it as an entire floor dedicated to open area and meeting rooms.

Anyway, in the middle of the room was a floor to ceiling glass divider wall ... kind of stuck in the middle. I guess the designer thought it would help break up the space. Glass was ... 1/2” thick? Top and bottom flanges or frames, but nothing on the ends. Maybe 12’ wide. I noticed it as i was walking up from the side, and realized all i could see was the 1/2” edge of the glass. I was walking parallel to the plane of the glass. From the front or back (perp to the glass), you easily noticed the smoky grey glass, but from the side there was just this thin line. Seemed to be a walking hazard. Is there anything in the code about this?

No code requirement comes to mind; however, I would imagine that the corridor does not align directly with the end of the glass partition?

If you sincerely believe it is potential safety hazard, then
schedule an "in-person" visit or a telephone conversation
with the local B.O. & Fire Code Official to discuss......Also,
if you want to have more exposure to the issue, contact
the local media to discuss.......See if they can obtain some
traction \ exposure to the matter.

Good hunting mate !

North ... i like my job too much to listen to your cheap advice. :}

The conference area in question is in space leased by my employer, a different office building than where i normally work. However ... we do have a very active safety program where we are encouraged to submit things we see, so I’m probsbly going to do that.
