Expecting to finish a commercial kitchen rehab next week, cooking eguipment to be delivered Fri.

Ranges, broilers, fryers etc powered by gas and movable (wheels) must have a tether on the gas whip to prevent damage while moving the equipment for cleaning and servicing. This kitchen is all electric, direct connected. Is there a similar provision that wants a tether on the electrical whip connection? Or is the whip considered strong enough by itself?

There is nothing in the NEC that would require a tether on the kitchen equipment. Now there may be instruction with the equipment that may have some requirements.

Mac,

I agree with raider1 !.....There is nothing in the NEC [ Article 422 ] that requires

some type of safety "tethering" for the electrical appliances......That said, do

the appliances have locking brakes on the wheels [ not that they would

actually be used mind you ]?......Also, the installation of the appliances will

be according to the manufacturer' installation instructions.
