What is the minimum branch circuit wire size and overcurrent protection device for the installation of this pool heater?
This is fed by a 120/208v single phase panelboard.

#8 conductors (75 or 90 C) are good for 43 amps.

I'd use the maximum breaker size as the minimum to avoid tripping when the compressor starts.

41.81x 1.25 = 52.26 amps. 6awg conductors with a 60 amp breaker assuming the heater will be on for 3 or more hours making it a continuous load.
