Hello electrical guru's

I have been told by a heating contractor that duct mounted electronic air cleaners are required to have a dedicated curcuit, but I have been unable to find a code reference to support that in the electrical code, or any other code for that matter. He has also stated that electronic air cleaners are now designed (or possible required to be ) to be 120V plug in equipped instead of the older style 220V hard wired variety. I have also been unable to find a reference for that.

In short he has said that a new 120V dedicated line with a plug in recepticle is required to install new Honeywell duct mounted electronic air cleaners.

What say you?

I agree that the dedicated circuit requirement will most likely come from the manufactures instructions. (110.3(B))

Make sue if you are going to cord and plug connect it that the duct is not located above a dropped ceiling as it is a violation of 400.8(5) to have flexible cord concealed above a suspended ceiling.
