Given a steel-framed, three-story building with a basement, of Type IIB construction, nonseparated mixed uses under the 2006 Edition of the International Building Code. The second floor will be an ambulatory health care facility and therefore regulated further by NFPA 101-2000 (LSC). Section 18.1.2.1(2) of the LSC requires a 2 hour separation of the second floor from the first and third floors. 2006 IBC Section 707.14.1, exception 4 permits the deletion of the elevator lobby in fully sprinklered buildings, but the 2000 LSC does not appear to have a similar exception. 2000 LSC Section 7.2.13 appears to require a lobby? Please give me some guidance if I need to provide a lobby(s) under the LSC. Thanks in advance.
