Employment Area Lists Threads in Alphabetical Order?

I just noticed this. Not sure if it's universal, or if it's a setting I screwed up. Instead of seeing them based on the last post made, I'm seeing the threads in the "Employment Area" in alphabetical order by title.

Is this correct?

Click on "last post by" header. That should move the little black triangle and reorder the post list. Point down or point up will reorder the list.

That section is that way per my request. It can get very busy and I hate duplicate postings, so by getting folks who post to list the posting by city/county, state - it becomes very easy to see if a position that you have come across is already listed or not. I've also made the request to those who post to put the job posted, job closes dates as the first line in the actual posting itself, this allows me to easily (by just moving my cursor over the heading) see when an posting has expired (on ones with no expiration date I actually click on the link and go check to see if the job is still open - all postings are deleted after 4 weeks no matter what). I've recieved comments/complaints regarding the listing in alphabetical order before, but it is so it's easier for me to manage. Any user can change the order by the controls at the bottom of the page. If you really WANT/NEED to find a job you will either use the controls or will carefully go through the postings to see which ones you can apply for. If someone else wants to take over the main moderation of that forum, I will gladly step aside and they can ask that the listing order be whatever works best for them.

That makes perfect sense. I was just making sure it wasn't an oversight, as I often see a new thread indicated in the forum, but it isn't at the top of the list when I enter there as it is with the others. Knowing that I can adjust the settings solves the issue. Also, knowing that someone is keeping such a close on eye on it is helpful. I was concerned that there would be old information accumulating, people would think it was out of date, and might miss a good opportunity. Thanks for your dilligence on keeping it up to date - I know that must be taking some time! I didn't mean to imply a lack of appreciation.

Is it possible to post a "sticky" at the top of that forum to give people the information you just posted here? That might keep people from continuing to inquire about it. I'm not sure if that would work with the alphabetical order or not - it was just a thought.

No offense taken, I know some folks are a bit confused by the way it is (until you understand my warped logic). So with the help of Jar, the sticky is now there, good idea, thanks.

I nominate the next person to complain.

I'm not looking so I don't care..

I don't think alphabetical is the best way to display new notices.. I would think new opportunities should show up first.. if I'd like to be in Souix Falls, and the first thing I see is Ames, I probably wont' look further..

Just thinking..
