Engineer Accused of Failing to Assess Manhattan Building Where Falling Debris Killed

The building dept was aware of a failed facade in October 2014 and ignored a notification by a consultant yet an engineer that did a lousy inspection in 2011 is on the hook for the death of a little girl. Even worse was that the girl was sitting next to her grandmother on a bench when a chunk of building fell from eight stories and ended her life.

This doesn't sound quite right. Why the government can escape responsibility in this is beyond any explanation. They should be thankful that they don't have to answer to someone like me.
