hello,

My sister plans to change her old door (wood door with a metal frame) in an apartment complex (apartment she owns). It is located in Miami and she wants a wood frame along with a fiberglass door. However she was wondering if she needs a permit to change the metal frame to a wood frame?

Wouldn’t that be approved by association whether she can use a wood frame or not?

Thanks a lot

Townhouse-type construction (each unit has an exterior entrance door) or "apartment" building with interior corridors? What construction type? If corridors, do the apartment entrance doors require a fire rating?

She will absolutely require a permit because she is in a 170+mph wind zone and the door and frame must be Florida-approved and meet the required pressures for the unit. This sounds like a condo since she owns the unit. There is no doubt a permit is required.

Apartment door which leads to the outside (air).

That would be the label. She is in progress of a permit but it’s hard to know which door can be used and is approved. The hoa is fine with anything, if it is approved by the city.

Here is the label:
