Evacuation Diagrams / Plans - Requirements

A client asked me why they were being required to provide Evacuation Plans in the hallways of his facility. I explained there are certain occupancies that are required to have these diagrams posted as per the International Fire Code. It then got me to thinking, and reading, about what the actual requirements for these diagrams are required to display. In fact, I couldn't find anything regarding what is "Required" to be shown on the diagrams, size, etc. Any suggestions? Thank you.
