I do not think IBC directing install sprinklers in the corridors regardless NFPA requirement/exception. Directing to install NFPA 13 sprinklers in corridors...as regulated by NFPA 13. Comfortable with the safety of the NFPA regulating the sprinkler design.

IBC Table 1020.1 requires all "R" occupancy corridors with an OL of greater than 10 have sprinkler coverage
It does not distinguish between open or closed corridors
