Facade shoring - historic Copenhagen building

I was in Copenhagen recently and saw them working on saving a building facade where the entire structure behind it had been removed. Check out how they have stabilized the facades by bracing them to adjacent shipping containers:

Update:
I found out that this was the "Børsen", a significant landmark that was gutted in a fire on April 24th.

Decades ago that's what they did in New haven, Connecticut. They wanted a new city hall, but the old city hall was a historic building, and it faced the New haven Green -- which is historic landmark. So they kept the facade, tore down the old city hall behind it, and build a new building behind the old facade.
