I have a factory Built fireplace with chimney. Fireplace labeled UL 127 No label on chimney. Installer referred code 1005.4 (2009 IRC) As a package

I need some help between 2009 IRC 1005.3 verses 1005.4 Are both of accepted in Residential settings?

If so where does the UL 103 and 103 HT apply?

Just a shot in the dark here..

I think the difference is the terminology of "appliance" vs. "fireplace"

I don't have the UL info (which would help) but I'm thinking pellet stove as "appliance" vs. pre-fab fireplace as "fireplace"

Can you post the model # of the fire place?

Ul 127 listing covers the entire assembly, fire chamber, chimney, and all associated parts.

The UL 103 is the High Temperature rating of the flue gas temperature 1000 degrees continuous, intermittent test either 1700 degrees F or 2100 degrees F as a manufactures option.
