We have an existing 2 story building. A and E proposed occupancies. ~24000 SF each floor, proposing to divide with fire barrier walls into 3 <12,000SF/floor fire areas to avoid sprinklers. Does a two hour fire barrier across a corridor create a dead end? The corridor length to the fire barrier is >20'.

Doors would be rated and on magnetic hold opens.

Is my coffee not strong enough or what am I missing?

My understanding is that a dead end corridor is a corridor that you can't get out of once you get into it. You stated that the door in the fire barrier at the "dead" end is on a magnetic hold-open, but you didn't state whether the hardware is a lockset or a latchset. To be a fire door, it has to positively latch upon closing. When it closes, if it's locked against me, then the corridor is a dead end. If I can open the door and go through it, it's not a dead end corridor, because I don't have to turn around and retrace my steps to get out.
