Fire Blocking

Looks like the backside of a stairway, 3/4" plywood or particle board at the ceiling, if area behind the stairway is being closed off.

I have found that fire blocking, fire stopping and smoke blocking is very hard to understand and to teach in the field.

Don't forget vertical blocking!

Hey I have a different inquiry...what do you know OBC fire code between condo units? 2 sheets of 5/8" x-rated drywall of two sheets of 3/4" x-fire rated sheets? I'm pretty sure it's one of the two.

Probably need to consult with a RDP and have them spec out the required wall separation design with STC sound transmission requirement.
