Is there anything anywhere that requires painting a building column to identify fire extinguisher locations?

I saw in OSHA to use the color red. There is nothing about painting a stripe, how high off the floor, or how tall the stripe is. We assumed the entire column should be painted red. I did not see anything in the 2015 IBC or the 2003 IFC (2003 IFC because that is what I have access to today in the office.)

Thanks!

Thanks CDA - I skimmed through NFPA 10, at least the sections I thought would be applicable, but I did not see anything.

Looks like only need the signs, if you hide the fire extinguisher

6.1.3.3 Visual Obstructions.
6.1.3.3.1
Fire extinguishers shall be installed in locations where they are visible except as permitted by 6.1.3.3.2.

6.1.3.3.2 *
In rooms and in locations where visual obstructions cannot be avoided, signs or other means shall be provided to indicate the extinguisher location.

6.1.3.3.3
Signs or other means used to indicate fire extinguisher location shall be located in close proximity to the extinguisher.

6.1.3.3.4
Signs or other means used to indicate fire extinguisher location shall be visible from the normal path of travel.

The only requirement in OSHA regarding fire extinguisher locations:

1910.157(c)(1)
The employer shall provide portable fire extinguishers and shall mount, locate and identify them so that they are readily accessible to employees without subjecting the employees to possible injury.

I'm pretty sure you're suppose to have a blinking arrow light to tell everyone where the FE is located, Maybe FM Burns could chime in?
