Fire Rated Doors

We have a building in which the corridor walls are supporting the roof, hence the need for a fire rating on the corridor walls. The rooms that are adjacent to the corridor do not need to be separated from the corridor due to the building being sprinklered. Do we still require a fire rating on the doors in the corridor wall, even though no fire separation is required?

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

Thank you

Welcome

Do you have a link to the building code this is designed to or give the brand and edition

My take is that if the wall is not required to be rated than no opening protection is required.

But the way you state the entire question is a little confusing to me.

If the structure is rated per the construction type (which is what it sounds like you are saying), and the corridor is not rated via the sprinkler exception, no....The doors would not need to be rated even if the wall is....And Welcome....

National Building Code Canada, latest edition (2012)

I do not have a link to the code.

If it is VA construction then the corridor walls even though they are interior bearing wall do not need to be rated

The 1-hour substitution for the fire resistance of exterior walls shall not be permitted.
