I'm working on a proposed new multipurpose building for an existing elementary school. The building will serve as a cafeteria most of the time, with tables and seats that fold-out from their wall attachment (example: http://www.foldingequipmentcompany.com/in-wall-cafetria-tables.html ).
There will also be occasional school assemblies, with the tables folded away and other non-fixed stackable seats brought in. An example would be a holiday performance by the schoolkids, and their parents are in the audience. The kids are up front on a permanent platform (like a "stage" but without all the proscenium arch and flyway stuff; not a legitimate stage).
In that scenario, I anticipate the plumbing fixture count to be Group "A", 15 SF per person for the audience.
QUESTION: Do I also need to include the platform/stage area in the plumbing fixture occupant load? After all, those kids who are onstage have already been accounted for in the existing plumbing facilities serving classrooms elsewhere on campus.
If it helps, California Plumbing Code Table A Occupat Load Factor says: "For building or space with mixed occupancies, use appropriate occupancy group for each area (for example, a school may have an "A" occupancy for the gymnasium, a "8" occupancy for the oflice, an "E" occupancy for the classrooms, etc.)
