Flexible Metal Conduit (FMC) Some Things To Consider

Flexible Metal Conduit, FMC, also known as Greenfield in some regions, has some very particular grounding and bonding limitations and requirements. An additional EGC is always required where FMC is used for flexibility. Examples of such installations include using FMC to minimize the transmission of equipment vibration, such as motors, or to provide flexibility for floodlights, spotlights, or other equipment that require adjustment after installation.

Also, don't forget that a bonding jumper is required where FMC is used in hazardous (classified) locations. Section 250.102(E) permits routing equipment bonding jumpers outside the raceway in lengths that are no longer than 6 feet and bonded at each end.

LFNMC is allowed to be used for pools over 6' if it has integral reinforcement within the conduit in the IRC. How do you know if it has integral reinforcement within the conduit when inspecting. Also where is LFNMC in the NEC?

The thread is about FMC and not LFNC which is Article 356. There is no such thing as LFNMC. There is only LFMC(350) and LFNC(356)

LFNMC would not make any sense. Liquidtight Flexible Nonmetallic Metallic Conduit?

LFNMC is listed as one of the permitted wiring methods for pools in 2018 IRC Table E4202.1. Is this a miss print?
Yes, there is no such thing as LFNMC That table is a misprint. Florida got rid of all electrical chapters in our IRC and referred it to the NFPA 70. This is long overdue and I wish the ICC would do the same. Let the NFPA do its thing instead of risking conflict and mistakes.

So I guess it should be LFNC? How do you know if it has integral reinforcement within the conduit when inspecting which is required when over 6'.
