Float Tanks

Bathtub .....

Ten inches of water

http://www.usfloattanks.com/construction/

Floating is a practice where an individual enters into a Float Tank (also called an isolation tank or sensory deprivation tank) which is a well-engineered enclosed tub filled with 10″ of water that has 800 lbs. of dissolved Epsom salts in it. The individual lies down in the water and floats effortlessly. The water is heated to the same temperature as the surface of your skin so that when the water settles and you remain relaxed and still, you do not really feel the water anymore. The tank is light-proof and sound-proof and has a neutral smell. The individual lies down in the water and floats effortlessly.

"Do you think these are regulated by the 2012 ICC pool code?"
No !......These would not [ by definition ] be considered an aquatic vessel,if filled with less than 12 inches of water AND drained daily.

From the `12 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code:

Section 101.2 - Scope: "The provisions of this code shall apply to the

construction, alteration, movement, renovation, replacement, repair and

maintenance of aquatic vessels."

Ch. 2 - Definitions: AQUATIC VESSEL: "A vessel, permanent or

temporary, intended for swimming, bathing, or wading and that is

designed and manufactured to be connected to a

circulation system..........Portable vessels 12 inches (305 mm) or less

in designed water depth which are drained and filled daily are not

considered aquatic vessels..............For purposes of this code, the term is

used to identify all the types of vessels governed by this code,

including: swimming pools, aquatic facilities, spas and hot tubs, and

related equipment..............Such vessels are either used in a residential

application or in a public application."
