Floor joist blocking

For a 2 story house framed with dimensional lumber, what is the requirement for mid-span blocking? I found section “R502.7.1 Bridging” that calls for bridging for joists larger than 2x12 …have not seen that size often … but nothing else. And i don’t see a section for Blocking, although it might be the same thing.
