Florida residents accuse local businesses of ADA violations

Two disabled Florida residents are suing dozens of restaurants, department stores and shopping centers across eastern North Carolina, alleging they were endangered by violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The lawsuits, filed by attorney Jacqueline London of Jupiter, Fla., have targeted several hundred businesses in Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and other states since 2009. The latest round has hit at least 30 businesses from Winston-Salem to Wilmington since September, including the Macy’s, Dillard’s and Belk department stores at Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem and Belk in Greensboro.
