Was remembering when the ICC decided to end it's forum and Jeff pulled us back together. This forum has been a tremendous success. What happens to it when Jeff; for whatever reason or condition; is not part of it? Does it just disappear? Have any plans been made to keep it going? Sorry, just thinking about my own temporary existence on this earth; and it would be nice if plans were made to keep the forum going. Uncle Bob

Great thhought UB, please lets not have a committe and more meetings.

Are there other Admins on the board thac have access to all the Admin paswords and know hao the sytems work?

Fatboy, RJJ and our IT person all have access as Admin. In addition, my secretary has been trained to perform routine Admin work through my account. As long as we have a combination of both Sawhorses and Google AdSense banners like we do, the forum is now financially self sufficient. We cannot survive on one or the other, it requires a combination of both to keep this forum financially stable. This is why we are always looking for Sawhorses. Not every Sawhorse renews their subscription so it is a constant battle of finding ways to entice people and give them benefits to want to be a Sawhorse. Google AdSense is completely hit and miss. This month, for example, we are about half of what we were last month.

I think we are going to end 2013 in the black but I am concerned about 2014 because many of the Sawhorses signed up for 2 years so we will not have any income from them next year as most renewals are not due until 2015. If anyone has any ideas on other ways to make becoming a Sawhorse more enticing, please let me know via PM.

When we hit 3,000 Sawhorses I may be able to retire early and spend more time running this forum while working part time as a Walmart greeter and cashing in my IRA. Until then 99 Sawhorses helps to take part of the financial burden off me and my company. Google AdSense takes off the rest.

I think we just need to put the forum on the christmas card list and donate, could even be on the president's day, easter, memorial day, labor day July 4th, etc card list and donate instead of that steak dinner we might eat.

I t is cheaper than hiring a consultant to answer the question, plus we get some wild answers!!! that are sometime correct.

I think we should give Jerry Lewis a call, he has been without a gig for awhile

We could become donate for Jerry's forum.

Like the idea of sponsoring a sawhorse!!

Now that is funny and true. Good one. LOL

Good ideas, but I was thinking more on the line of what happens when Jeff's company or Jeff no longer exist (the owner of the site); what happens then? Is someone else on the contract as site owner, and do they have access to all the records etc. ?

Great question and there is no definitive answer. I own the domain name and lease the software and server space. My company coordinates everything and receives the money and pays the bills. If the company ceases to exist, I still own and run the show. If I cease to exist, the company runs the show through my heirs. At that point another entity or group can offer to purchase the domain name and website. Make no mistake, I have a lot of time, effort and money into this and this is a privately owned forum on my part whether it sinks or sails. Right now it is sailing and I can only hope that it gets busy enough with Google AdSense that I can start to put a couple of bucks into my pocket for all of the time, effort and money that I put into this. The website is free to anyone who wants to join. Those that are Sawhorses help to make this forum free to everyone else. I have no intentions of giving up this site to any one person, group of persons or entity. To me I think of it like a child that I want to watch grow up.

Our IT guru is Andrea from Web Leaps. Her company knows every single aspect of what it takes to keep this running.

I think what UB is trying to say and I think you get it is there a line of succession, when China comes and takes over the world.

In theory, if Jeff goes away, or no longer wants to do this gig, ..then someone could replicate his

efforts and do the same thing. As long as it is NOT ICC, and they are the only ones to resort to!

There are other Forums out there already, but not to the level of expertise this one is!

Kudos to Jeff and others for making this THE ONLY forum to be a Sawhorse or active member

on.

The Cow can stay out in the pasture!

The ICC is not on my happy list and I would never consider allowing them to take over. They are not that smart and it would be detrimental to this board. We need to keep going in a happy, positive direction with quality people like we have been.

In the event of a China takeover of the internet, I am already negotiating with Pu Di Kinu Mu Da from the Southeast area of China for a smooth transition.

To all: The day that Jeff decides to step aside I will take over the site. This site was a brain storm between Jeff and I when the ICC BB shut us off. He had the ability to produce what we have today. He has devoted countless hours to manage the site and respond to numerous complaints and issues. If that day come I will do my best to see that it continues to serve. Lets enjoy what we have, contribute as a saw horse when needed and thing will be fine.

This is a little off topic.

Would it be appropriate for me to donate $15 to the forum and challenge all members to do the same? If so under what topic and what and how would be the best way to donate? Or should I just send in my $15 and call it good?

some of us sawhorses will give holiday gifts, I think. We really need to thank Jar and RJ for taking the challenge to start this place.. on the old place, you can just about hear the crickets.

I love hanging out here.. learn something.. contribute something.. and it's cheaper than bar hopping.

Thanks again.
