My kids have had projects in school several times where the teachers ordered caterpillars and the kids studied them as they became caterpillars. I remember my teacher just stuck a stick with a chrysalis in a jar but now you need store-bought caterpillars and a special hatching chamber. Same goes for tadpoles...they order eggs and wait weeks for them to turn into frogs. I am the official tadpole farmer for the first grade.
