FREE FORUM INTRODUCES CALIFORNIA’S FIRST MANDATED GREEN BUILDING
CODE TO DESIGN AND CONTRUCTION INDUSTRY
SANTA ANA—On February 2, 2011, the County of Orange hosts a free CALGreen Forum, featuring a panel discussion and a practical demonstration on how to plan check and inspect projects to ensure Green Building Code compliance.
The two guest speakers, Dave Walls, Executive Director, Building Standards Commission, State of California and Doug Hensel, Assistant Deputy Director, Department of Housing and Community Development, State of California, have led the effort resulting in the adoption of the California's first mandated Green Building Code. During the Forum, they will share their expertise while attendees will be introduced to the Code from multiple perspectives. Attendees will be provided with examples of practical applications for both residential and non-residential projects and will receive an extensive list of available resources. A short video by Jeff Elmassian will be presented at the Forum. In addition to Walls and Hensel, the panel includes:
•Hadi Tabatabaee, Building Official, PE, MS, CBO, CGBP, County of Orange
•Dr. Saum K. Nour, Engineer, Ph.D., LEED AP, CIPE, CPD, Absolute Consulting Engineers
•Justin Brechtel, Architect, LEED AP, USC Lecturer in Architecture, Practicing Architect
•Moe Fakih, Contractor, LEED AP, LEED Certifier, Project Manager for LEED Certified Buildings
The Forum will provide building officials, plan examiners, inspectors, architects, engineers, contractors and developers an opportunity to learn about the Code from the professionals that were instrumental in the Code's development.
