In response to an upswing in Americans with Disabilities Act lawsuits in Fresno County in the last couple of months, a partnership of organizations is hosting an ADA compliance seminar next month.
Called the Fresno Area Small Business Summit, the Sept. 13 event will be held at the Fresno Downtown Business Hub at 1444 Fulton Street from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The event is sponosored by the Fresno Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, California Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse and the California Lodging Industry Association.
The forum will include information from experts to help prevent what many call frivolous lawsuits against businesses for not complying with ADA rules governing disabled access. San Diego attorney David Warren Peters — who has consulted on more than 1,200 ADA lawsuits throughout the U.S. and served as lead counsel in more than 400 such cases in California — is scheduled to appear.
The event is exclusive and free to members of the three sponsoring organizations. For more information or to reserve space, visit Keeping CA Competitive
