2015 IBC, heavy timber pavilion structure with roof currently open sides, applicant would like to put up fire retard curtains and exits to keep the cool-cold wind out.
The curtains we have determined are decorations and governed under the fire code and allowed. the Buildng code section 1010.12 egress doors shall be of the pivot or side hinged swing type, none of the exception apply.
The applicant states, "What they have done for nearly all of their national clients is a breakaway Velcro door" "The Velcro breakaway door easily removes upon pushing similar to a panic bar on an egress door."
Are the curtains a door? Does the applicant have to provide swinging door and with the curtains around permitter except for the exists?
