what are the code requirements for underground fuel gas piping for lp gas, can pe / pvc be used? or must it be all steel pipe? must the vertical comming out of the ground be steel? where are these codes found? what schedule is the minimum? This is for lp gas 2000lb tank to generator.

From the Fuel Gas Code:

"403.6.2 LP-gas systems. The use of plastic pipe, tubing and fittings in undiluted liquefied petroleum gas piping systems shall be in accordance with NFPA 58. "

Not sure what 58 says, but there you go!

You might also check your State government requirements. In Texas LP gas is regulated by the Texas Railroad Commission & their requirements rule.
