Is plumbers tape allowed as iron NG gas pipe strapping? Does this cause a dissimlar metal problem?

Yes plumbers tape can be used to support NG piping.!.....No, it doesn't

cause galvanic action, because both are steel......Plus, [ typically ] most NG

piping [ in the area ] has a coating on it.......Refer to Section P2605.1, #3

what is plumbers tape? do you mean "band Iron"? metalic with bolt holes in it? your not talking about teflon tape used as a joint sealant are you?
 
In my part of the country what you refer to as band iron is called plumbers tape.(at least for the past 40 or 50 years)
