I have been trying to generate a buzz among inspectors, contractors and housewives.

I post pictures of the outlandish things I see. Sometimes I give details and sometimes not. Some pictures are target rich with violations and some are just one great big violation. Before I started, pictures were few and far between and there was only one comedian.

I am dumbfounded at the dearth of pictures. You're looking at a TV screen. This is a visual media.

I try to say as little as possible about a picture. I don't want to come off as a know it all. That's not my style and I don't know it all. I want others to join in.

There are all levels of expertise viewing the pictures. The folks that know what's up with a picture should say something and answer questions from the people that don't. The people that don't know should ask questions. That's how a forum works.

I didn't buy my knowledge, it came from asking questions.

If I give everybody the answers, few will ask questions. This is a two way street. I and others will learn from questions.

I taunt guests with pictures. If they want to see the pictures, they must enroll.

If a picture just sits there with no comments, I'm not getting the bang for the buck. Some of the pictures have 100 views and nobody said a word. How long should I continue to put up pictures with no response? I know you all didn't get it. I know you all didn't get it all. I know I didn't get it all.

The people in the background need to participate. The people that participate need to talk it up. That's how the new inspectors can learn. Then they will be talking and teaching you and I.

I analyzed the progress of enrollment over the 22 months that this forum has existed. When I started there were 1310 members. On average, 60 people joined each month. The curve should be slightly exponential in that members beget members. In the last few months before I enrolled the average jumped all the way to 80.

I found myself at home recuperating for two weeks with not much to do, so I decided to have fun at this forum. I set a goal of 300 new members in my first month. I did it for the Hell of it. I figured that it wouldn't be too difficult as the audience was already assembled. I pummeled the forum with pictures. I didn't achieve the goal by 30.

Now I am asking YOU to help me meet the goal.

Maybe I've got it all wrong, it happens, but I think most of you would like to see 10,000 members with hundreds that are active. Thats not going to happen without some effort. I understand that my entrance was fast and furious. If I did get it wrong and the pace and content doesn't suit enough of you, let me know and I'll back off and give you a new song.

I am not so egocentric as to think the increase in enrollment is about me. Something happened that has nothing to do with me. It's the pictures.

I told you this because members have complained that I don't provide enough details with pictures. Now you know why.

If I upset the equilibrium of your continuum, I guess you are collateral damage of my fun and I make no apology.

I'm actually a huge fan of the pictures. But then again, unlike some, I am usually able to see why you posted them.

I like the pictures also, unfortunatelly with the City's filters, I can't see them. I do catch up with them at home on the weekends though.

I appreciate your pictures ICE. You are right, this is a visual tool - I'm sitting here looking at about 45" of total screen width across two monitors - and words only just won't cut it. Keep posting!

I also like the idea of us all working to grow this board. Jar has done a simply fantastic job of getting us up an running. There is a great deal of info to be found here, but I think we have a long way to go to build the historical database of code discussion, interpretation, investigation, and yes, argumentation that was present on the former board. It is so helpful to see how others have tackled an issue, rather than coming at it blind, and re-inventing the wheel. There's nothing new under the sun, just new codes!

Rock on!

Was the same for me untill recently. I asked my favorite IT guy in our city, and he was able to unblock photobucket, as he saw this as a very legitmate forum that adds to our work knowledge. Perhaps you can swing it through your IT dept??

Okay..... I can agree with that!! Never thought of it that way! Of course I don't get paid to think! I just get paid to sit here and look pretty! You know.... the Stud Muffin type!!!! :)

Enrollment has slowed to a crawl. How about some of you folks coming up with pictures? 304 people have enrolled since June 23rd. The only difference was 186 pictures.

How do you post such large pictutres. I tried photo bucket but they where thumbnails that you had to click on?
It's all about the camera. Mine has 12 mega-pixels. There is no way to upload large pictures without a third party web site. That makes me nervous because if Photobucket were to crash and burn, all of the pictures here will disappear. Another problem will arise when I exceed my free capacity at Photobucket.

I am looking forward to other people posting pictures. The pace of new enrollments has dropped to a trickle and a flood of pictures will make a difference. So bring it on.
