At the first inspection of the wall furnace the stud bay had not been opened up. When I told the contractor that the wall finish had to be removed he wanted to know why. One of the things that I mentioned was the plate spacer strap.

And this is a single story house.

This is the third inspection. I'll keep coming. Is he right and it's my fault that he has to do more work and lose another day waiting for yet another inspection? But Sir, I had no idea that you had no clue.

This iw when the inspector needs to provide a little education to the home owner. Cite the code section and give them a copy
 
Classic case of "If you can't see it, I can't see it" Inspection 1: covered with drywall. Inspection 2: Firestop spacer covering wood that needs to get cut out. Inspection 3: Now cut out the wood that I can finally see that is in violation.
