Did you know that the majority of ground rod clamps (mostly bronze alloy) have only been tested for copper-coated rods and NOT galvanized or stainless rods? This means they are not listed for use on any ground rod other than copper-coated.
However, the ground rod itself does NOT have to be listed like the clamp does. But, the markings on the ground rod are suppose to ensure that it was manufactured to the specs needed to satisfy NEC 250.52.A(5)
Basically you need to visually inspect the markings on the ground rod and the ground rod clamp to ensure they are compatible.
