Has anyone seen a header on the bottom of a wall? Is there any code this contradicts? This is my plan or the new framing going on my existing foundation. At present, over all the windows, the existing floor joists (2x8's) are only nailed to the rim board (2x8), and sitting on and maybe nailed to the sill plate, (2x4). I also added joist hangers for the existing floor joists above the windows.I'm planning on changing the window to an egress window but I want to keep the top up as high as it is presently.Does the pic look like a good idea to spread the load out to the foundation rather than pushing down on the floor joists above the window?Let's not do the engineer talk. I design first and ask questions later.Besides, the company making the pre fab walls I will buy for this project will engineer the system they build.Ultimately, the AHJ will ask for engineering before they issue the permit about what's under the wall and I can get that from my engineer if this is not too whacked.I'd just like to hear some opinions on this.

works for me, or you could put the header in the floor system below by double or triple up the rim joist
I will be cutting back the floor joists to create a brick ledge, so doubling up over the opening would be pretty simple to do.Amazingly enough, at present, the floor joists are not squeezing down on the window frames. I know this because I just changed all the basement windows. But, since I'm renovating, I must pass inspection and want to get everything onto my plans.I have a similar situation at the rear of the house. I just finished extending the headers over two doors and a window so the load goes around the basement windows.View attachment 1052
