Given a culinary arts building, the floor receptors for the indirect waste are located 1" above finish floor. The plumber says that is the maximum that they cen be placed. The ideal height would be 6" above floor to eliminate splashing during discharge. Currently under 1997 UPC, but state planning on going to IPC. Is there any maximum height above floor level for an indirect receptor? Air gaps have been provided and will be maintained if changes are made. Thanks for the replies.

Inspector102,

Section 802.3.2 in the `06 IPC requires a minimum height of 1" above a

water impervious floor, not a maximum height. The piping needs to

be protected from someone breaking the hub type receptor & any

associated piping off.
