I am new to the forum and new to codes in general. I worked as a bricklayer for 15 years and now I work for a native American tribe where I am in charge of adopting the building codes as well as creating a building department. I will have lots of questions as this process begins, but beginner experiences are always helpful.

Thank You

Dave

Welcomoe, I agree with others, establish some relationships with WABO, and you have your work cut out for you, IMHO.

Come on back often and always on other questions, I can't help with this one!

If you do not have good code knowledge, make sure the people you are hiring do. Really take your time and make sure they are a good fit with each other and your organization....Starting from scratch is a monumental task...You will also have to look at the integration of the code and your tribal (and any other pertinant) laws, to make sure they mesh properly....If the laws need to be written, there is another task...

Welcome Dave! Looks like I'll be up in Washington the middle of June along with the ICC Secretary Treasurer. Washington Association of Building Officials annual business meetings. Here is a link to their webpage. http://www.wabo.org/
