Building a guest house in Calistoga. During the HERS inspection on the foam roof layer, The inspector made me aware of constant vent requirements.I'm not super on-board with all this stuff, but I live in Kaliforniadumbfvckistan so I try to be a good socialist, and asked for some info. The man graciously let me post his paper here, and asked that I just credit him and show his contact information.BrentRick CowperthwaiteBuilding Science ConsultantPHIUS+ RaterCalCERTS New & Existing Home HERS Rater and TrainerBPI Certified Building Analyst & Shell ProfessionalCertified Green Building ProfessionalGreenPoint Rater for New & Existing HomesCertified Energy Analyst (CEPE & CEA)ICC Certified CALGreen Special InspectorRick's Energy Solutions(707) 578-5380 Office(877) 577-6749 Fax(707) 529-2570 MobileView attachment 2711View attachment 2712View attachment 2713

Our home was built twenty years ago so we are forced to open a window or two. It shouldn't be that way and thankfully my grandchildren will have it better than we did.

I'm with you Tiger, I just paid my PG&E bill, $47.89 in this freezing weather, just think of all the money I could save if I hired a HERS rater, insulated my walls, put solar panels on the roof, and sealed everything up. I've got a skylight over a bathtub, I usually keep it open year around, I closed it this year when the weather got cold but when I was shaving this morning I heard a noise and the damn thing was opening on it's own. the Hell with it, I'm just going to leave it open.
