Possibly a small benefit of the COVID pandemic, working remotely has proved it can work, and a lot of folks are never going to go back to 80 hours a week in the office cube. Hence, fewer cars on the road....for now.
I am afraid that in time employers will forget that remote working.... worked, and will want to John Q. Public sitting in his office chair, 5/8/40 again.
Unless they are like State Farm Insurance that has told the vast majority of their office staff, that they will be remote working permanently. A couple of very large office buildings that are essentially unused now, other than housing all the support equipment.
