As a loyal member of IAEI, the IAEI Board of Directors wanted to update you on recent events. We wanted to let you know that we are NOT changing but rather staying the same independent membership association we have been since 1928. We've listened to all your feedback and concerns about a possible merger or acquisition, and we thank you for your feedback. That is exactly why the board has elected to enter into a simple service agreement with the International Code Council (ICC), that is no different than our existing agreements with industry partners such as NFPA, UL, NCPCCI, IREC, PACE, Leviton, and CSA. From the beginning ICC expressed its desire to allow IAEI to remain fully independent and self-governing and we thank them for their flexibility.

Here are a few highlights of the Support and Collaboration Agreement between the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) and the International Code Council (ICC).

  • ICC will perform certain administrative and program support services for IAEI, such as:
    • Fulfilling orders for IAEI publications and merchandise
    • Warehousing of IAEI inventory
    • Providing graphic artist services
    • Distributing IAEI online education training
    • Issuing IAEI course certifications
    • Managing IAEI social media accounts
  • IAEI and ICC will explore other collaboration opportunities, which may include:
    • A joint National Electrical Certification Program
    • An IAEI/ICC joint membership
    • Cobranded publications
    • Cobranded educational opportunities

Again, the relationship between IAEI and ICC will continue to be that of independent contractors. It does not create an association, partnership, joint venture, or employer-employee relationship; both organizations will remain completely independent of one another and we anticipate that the back-office changes at the IO will not impact the IAEI members.

We look forward to continuing our support of the electrical industry, and we thank you for being an IAEI member.
