What would be the proper use group for an ice cream stand such as a Dairy Queen? Generally, about 6-8 employees working windows and a drive thru. No assembly within the structure; everything is served at the windows for transient traffic.

Re: Ice Cream Stands

Could also be an M if strictly take. The B seems to be the catch all for small food service projects because of exception 1

303.1 Assembly Group A.

Assembly Group A occupancy includes, among others, the use of a building or structure, or a portion thereof, for the gathering of persons for purposes such as civic, social or religious functions; recreation, food or drink consumption; or awaiting transportation.

Exceptions:

1. A building used for assembly purposes with an occupant load of less than 50 persons shall be classified as a Group B occupancy.

Re: Ice Cream Stands

Strictly dishing out ice cream, I would call it a B occupancy. Most Diary Queens have commercial kitchen and I would call them B and F-1, maybe some S-1 within ;)

Almost forgot, if they are making the sticks for popsicles etc, then I would be looking at woodworking as a use.
